Louvre Abu Dhabi
From concept through to near completion, A truly Unique piece of Construction.
Here is a collection of Photos and video telling the story of Louvre – Abu Dhabi.
Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel. (pictured left) website www.jeannouvel.com
Jean Nouvel thinks its extremely important to create places that you want to visit and more importantly re-visit time and time again.
He says that a space should “make you feel good,” and also for it to be a “Place that you want to take people to.”
That’s how he characterises the atmosphere in his designs and has applied that to this design.
He stats its a brand new characteristic space in Abu Dhabi, which serves as a building as well as a quarter.
Creating a sort of micro-climate, by creating a strong contrast between the outside and inside temperature.
Built as a collection of different sized white cubes which create the roads and medinas,
with a reference point being an ‘enclosed Arab town’ but reinterpreted on another scale, with different techniques.
The ultra modern dome roof with its random shaped voids letting natural sunlight sprinkle onto to the buildings and tidal pools below,
see an artists impression of how the light will work in the different spaces below.
